Recently, I heard some of my
friends talked about the danger of using tea in a bag. I was not interested in
this topic at first. I am not a big tea drinker and I simply prefer water and
fruit juices above all kind of beverages. However, one of my friend who really
believes that tea bags are dangerous started to give some scientific evidences
and explanations. She told me that the tea producers put epichlorohydrin in the
tea bags material. For your information, that chemical can also be used as pesticide.
She also told me that the consumption of this chemical can lead to cancer, infertility,
and weakening the human immune system.
For me this matter has
been greatly exaggerated. I do not get the idea of blaming the tea producers
after decades or even centuries of using it. I tried to google the case of
people died because of the material used in tea bags. The result was, I couldn’t
hardly find any news or reports about it.
Furthermore, I believe
that this is not the first time people are going crazy about the chemical
content of the wrappers. Not long ago, people were also crazy about the BPA
content in mineral water bottle. They said that it contains BPA that can lead
to obesity because it ruins the hormonal system in our bodies. Regarding to
that matter, I also haven’t found any reports of death caused by the usage of
bottled water.
Quoted from the
ratetea.com, the tea bags are made of nylon which is a type of synthetic
fabrics. Even though it is made of synthetic material, the tea bags are still
very safe to be used because nylon has a really high heat resistance. The molecules
will not break even on the temperature of boiling water. This, then proved that
the speculations about the dangerous of tea bags are really non-sense.

I once again would like
to state my disagreement toward the bad rumors about the dangers of tea bags. I
feel like that there is nothing to be afraid of for using the tea bags in daily
basis. The government has guaranteed to us that it is safe to use according to
the food and health standard.
